Visionary organizing is a way of facilitating social change by tapping into peoples' spiritual and psychological desires to grow and develop in ways that oppression makes difficult. By projecting a more humane vision of how people can live and by organizing around points of systemic critical connections, visionary organizing works to transform people and society. Practicing Your Purpose: Transformative Professional Development for Direct Services Providers

Often people believe that life is best when you can find a job that aligns with your personal purpose. Because very few people are able to find jobs that align with our purpose, work that involves providing direct services to clients is often frustrating, difficult, and stressful. Rather, than provide direct service providers with best practices to better serve their clients, this training gets to the root of the common frustrations amongst direct service providers by teaching them to align their purpose with their jobs. Re-Imagining the City: Interdependent Organizing for Urban Transformation

As it becomes clearer that all the single issues in cities are connected, it has become common for activists and organizers to talk about intersectional approaches to activism. Sometimes organizers are able to navigate these connections usefully and other times conflicts of interests between, for example, labor and environmental organizations, might break apart coalitions and whole campaigns.
